How To Download & Install Java

Before you start programming with Java, you need to download and install what is called a JDK (Java Development Kit) which enables you to write and compile codes written in Java.


1. Open your browser (Internet Explorer, Mozilla Firefox or Google Chrome)

2. Type this site in the address bar http://java.sun.com/ which will take you to Java's main page

3. Click on the Download dropdown menu and select the Java SE (Standard Edition)

4. Look for the JDK with Standard Edition and click on the Download button which takes you to a new page

5. Click on the radio button to Accept the License Agreement then Choose the download corresponding to your operating system

6. A pop up window opens asking you to run or save the .exe, click on save

7. After the download is complete double click the .exe to start the wizard which walks you through the download and installation of Java
